The key for anti-cellulite creams and gels to improve the appearance of the skin is to apply them consistently and following a few easy steps that optimize their effectiveness.
Although it is more visible and frequent in women, cellulite is a natural fact that can also occur in men. It can become a health problem, but in most cases, it is limited to an aesthetic problem that, if we are concerned, can be easily minimized and controlled.
First it is convenient to know what cellulite is. It literally means “inflammation of the cells” and it is nothing but an accumulation of liquids, fats and toxins in the fat cells or adipocytes. Although it is not clear why it occurs, it is known that fat nodules form that are increasing in size and hardening within fat cells. This causes the adipose tissue to become flaccid and the so-called “orange peel” appears.
FIRST STEP: TACKLE THE CAUSES OF CELLULITE
There is a genetic predisposition to cellulite but some factors are modifiable:
- Exercising that moves the legs(walking, running, swimming, cycling) with a moderate intensity for more than forty minutes prevents fat deposits.
- With repeated muscle contractions, blood flow and interstitial fluid drainage increases.
- It is also convenient to avoid the oxidation of this fat by protecting that area, which is often forgotten, from the sun.
- Reduce stress, because adrenaline alters that fat.
- Avoid tobacco or excess alcohol.
- You can also improve blood and lymphatic circulation with contrast showers that start with hot water and go to cold.
- It is also recommended to avoid tight clothing or to remain seated or in the same position for a long time.
YOUR ROUTINE TO FIGHT CELLULITE
An excellent routine to improve cellulite begins in the shower:
- Give yourself an underwater massage with a brush or a loofah glove. Through gentle circular maneuvers you will activate the circulation; do it until you feel some heat in the buttocks and in the affected area, which reddens a little.
- Use a mild exfoliant that also allows you to remove dead cells. This will leave the skin more prepared for the penetration of the anti-cellulite product.
- After showering, you can apply the anti-cellulite product. Consistency is key to minimizing cellulite: apply it once in the morning and once at night. When applied, a proper massage helps to reduce the cushiony appearance of the skin.
HOW TO DO AN ANTI-CELLULITE MASSAGE
Applied with a proper massage and on a regular basis, a good anti-cellulite product can improve the appearance of areas with cellulite. All the movements described below should be done in the direction of the heart, starting at the farthest point and moving closer to it:
- Drag the knuckles with gentle pressure in long, straight strokes from the hamstring of the knee to the buttocks. Repeat this for about three minutes per leg.
- Pinch your buttocks, always keeping the same direction, making a clamp with your thumb and index finger. You must insist on the areas where you notice small nodules, but always avoiding pain.
- Continue the same route now with your hands(placing one palm on the back of the other) in circular movements. This is the moment when the anti-cellulite is applied.
- Increase the pressure and repeat until the anti-cellulite has been completely absorbed.
This massage can be done both in the morning shower and in the evening, and its effects increase if you repeat it morning and night.
USE NATURAL ANTI-CELLULITE PRODUCTS
If you use oils, which facilitate the massage, it is important that they are of plant origin and not mineral, since the latter clog the pores. Its absorption will be immediate when it is emulsified with the water that has remained on the skin.
Both the oils and the anti-cellulite creams and gels must have effective active ingredients, either:
- Purifying: such as horsetail or birch extracts.
- Venotonics: such as horse chestnut extracts.
- Lipolytics: like caffeine.
- Activators of metabolism: such as algae rich in iodine.
- Firming: such as nettle extracts.
