We propose a full day of beauty and well-being at home: 9 simple steps to enjoy and regenerate the skin by offering all the care it needs.
Daily chores sometimes make it difficult to spend time on beauty care. But setting aside a day to relax and calmly give your skin or hair the care they need not only shows on the outside but also revitalizes and helps you feel better.
We propose 9 steps to dedicate a full day to beauty. In addition to following these steps, it can be used to cleanse the skin also from the inside by opting for light meals and drinking water and infusions.
1. SMEAR WITH OIL
Waking up to natural light, unhurried, is the best way to start a day dedicated to taking care of yourself.
After stretching, in a room with a comfortable temperature, the whole body is smeared with warm sesame oil in a water bath.
It begins with the scalp with a gentle massage, continues with the feet and works its way up: legs, hands, arms, abdomen, chest, back, neck and face.
This deeply purifies, nourishes and tones the skin and prevents premature aging, while stimulating the body’s energy centers. At the end we wrap ourselves in a towel.
2. RELAX OR MEDITATE
In a calm environment, everything is prepared to enjoy about 30 minutes of deep relaxation or meditation.
You can take the opportunity to practice breathing type pranayama or just lie in the posture of the dead body (sav asana) and try to keep the mind without clinging to thoughts.
3. REMOVE DEAD SKIN
With this calm of mind, she goes to the shower to perform a body scrub. The exfoliation removes dead cells, tones circulation and prepares the skin to receive the nutrients it needs.
You can add salt or fine sand to the daily soap or gel, or use a natural exfoliating cream or gel that does not add to the skin.
The preparation is rubbed all over the body, emphasizing the soles of the feet, elbows and knees, without forgetting that in sensitive areas such as the chest or belly the exfoliation must be lighter.
Exfoliating residues are removed with warm water, the skin is dried well and a nourishing cream based on shea, coconut or cocoa butter is applied until it is completely absorbed.
4. CLEAN THE FACE WELL
In the middle of the morning, you can perform a deep cleaning of the face.
It begins with a gentle exfoliation and then a mask appropriate to the skin type is applied to the face and neck.
A simple homemade mask recipe is one that mixes a tablespoon of brewer’s yeast with a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of wheat germ or avocado oil until you get a thick paste that helps revitalize dry skin.
It is left to act for half an hour, and it is removed with water.
5. MASSAGE THE FACE
To tone the skin, after applying and removing the mask we can continue with a facial self-massage.
First the oil to be used is prepared:
- For normal skin: 30 ml of avocado oil with 10 drops of lavender essential oil.
- For sensitive skin: 30 ml of wheat germ oil with 10 drops of geranium essential oil.
- For dry skin: 30 ml of argan oil and 10 drops of frankincense essence.
How to perform a self-massage?
- The neck is massaged with the palms from the bottom up, it is passed over the chin and the mandibular ridge and up to the ears.
- With the index fingers the laugh lines are massaged to the base of the nose and up to the temples.
- Outward circles are drawn around the eyes.
- With the right palm the forehead is massaged from left to right, and the other way around with the left.
- Each step is repeated 4-6 times.
6. ENJOY THE SIESTA
Spending a few moments of relaxation and rest after eating regenerates and this is reflected in the skin.
7. SOFTEN THE FEET
The feet sustain us throughout the day but often receive very little attention.
After a nap, blood circulation can be stimulated by taking a cold-water foot bath:
- A few drops of peppermint or rosemary essential oil are added to the water.
- The feet are kept inside for 20 minutes and then they are carefully dried, insisting on the area between the toes.
- With an energetic massage, a specific cream for calluses or cracks is applied.
8. NOURISH THE HAIR
A day of beauty cannot leave out hair care.
A mask can be applied to strengthen the scalp or to nourish well the ends that often appear dry and split.
- For dry hair it is recommended to use argan oil.
- For oily hair you can prepare a mask based on clay and infusion of nettle.
The mask is left to act for half an hour and then the hair is thoroughly washed with a suitable soap.
The last rinse is made with an infusion of rosemary, which is rubbed over the scalp to strengthen it.
9. A RELAXING BATH
Before dinner the atmosphere of the bathroom is prepared with soft music and some candles.
The bathtub is filled with hot water and chamomile tea, orange blossom salts and lavender essential oil are added to enjoy a relaxing bath for twenty minutes.
After dinner, to round off, you can take the opportunity to forget everything with a good read and a comforting infusion of lemon balm and orange blossom.
